College Preparation

Rise Preparatory Academy has a history of accelerated learning with a focus on individual tutoring & college preparation.

Our goal is to send all of our graduates to college.  In our one-to-one classrooms, teachers will begin to lay the foundation for students to be prepared.  Below is the sequence of tests our students take to prepare for college and entrance exams:

  • 6th-7th Grade: Annual Norm Referenced Achievement testing
  • 8th-9th Grade: Annual Norm Referenced Achievement testing + 8/9 Preliminary SAT (PSAT)
  • 10th Grade: Annual Norm Referenced Achievement testing + 10/11 Preliminary SAT (PSAT)
  • 11th Grade: Annual Norm Referenced Achievement testing + 10/11 Preliminary SAT (PSAT) + +SAT (School Day) + ACT (scheduled individually)
  • 12th Grade: ACT/SAT (scheduled individually)During the junior and senior years, students also are placed in several elective courses to help prepare for college:   

College Prep Class – Starting with the class of 2020, all students will take College Prep for one credit during the 11th grade year.  In this course, students will search for colleges of interest, take test preparations, and ensure they have college entrance accounts set-up to take entrance exams and apply to colleges.  The course will have three components:

  • SAT/ACT Math Review
  • SAT/ACT English Review
  • Essay Preparation
